DESCRIPTION

Sika SikaCeram-690 Elite Grout is a high performance cementitious, wall / floor tile grout for use in joints from 1 mm to 10 mm in width.
Especially designed for grouting fully porcelain, glass, ceramic and natural stones sensitive to discoloration.
SikaCeram-690 Elite Grout has increased colour consistency, very good flank adhesion and increased abrasion resistance.
For indoor and outdoor use including pools.

USES

Sika SikaCeram-690 Elite Grout is recommended for grouting the following tile types :

• Artificial stone tiles
• Fully vitrified tiles

• Marble and other natural stones sensitive to discolouration

APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

EQUIPMENT

Mixing equipment

• Electric single paddle mixer (600 rpm) with spiral, helix, hoop, basket, impellor paddle

Application equipment

• Grout spreader
• Squeegee
• Grouting float/trowel.
• Sponge
• Soft cloth
• Grout finishing tool

Do not mix grout by hand.

SUBSTRATE QUALITY / PRE-TREATMENT

• Check joints are dry, clean, clear of excess adhesive, contaminants and tile joint spacers.
• Remove from joint before grout application.
• Avoid any ponding / standing water on the surface.
• Surface must not be damp to touch.

MIXING

IMPORTANT
Avoid over-mixing to minimise air entrainment.

IMPORTANT
Do not add additional water into the mixed product during or after mixing.

IMPORTANT
Do not exceed the recommended amount of water in the mix. The mix must never be fluid.

1. Pour the recommended amount of clean cold water into a clean mixing container.

2. Gradually add powder to the water while mixing.

3. Mix thoroughly until a uniformly coloured, smooth mix is achieved.

4. Do not mix for 2 – 3 minutes to allow mixed product to mature.

5. Remix for ~30 seconds

APPLICATION

1. Apply Sika Cream®-690 Elite Grout using a grout spreader, squeegee or grouting float/trowel.

2. Completely fill and compact the joints uniformly.

3. If required, finish grout with a grout finishing tool while grout is wet.

4. Using the same spreader/ float, remove excess grout from the tile surfaces, moving the tool diagonally across the joints.

5. When the grout is touch dry (15 – 45 minutes depending on the absorbency of the tile).
Use a damp sponge or sponge float to clean the tile surfaces. Clean sponge regularly with clean water.

6. When grout has set hard enough in the joint (finger- nail hard). Polish the tile surfaces by wiping with a clean, soft dry cloth.

CLEANING OF EQUIPMENT

When finished using SikaCeram-690 Elite Grout, clean all tools and application equipment with water after use. Hardened material can only be mechanically removed.
